Taking its name from both its lofty perch on the second story overlooking stands of pecan trees and the impressive literary history of Bastrop, Stories embraces local ingredients to create layers of gourmet Texas flavors. The talented culinary team, which is led by Chef Nate Parnell, creates a succulent menu that changes frequently, ensuring a premium fine dining experience with fresh and seasonal ingredients and an extensive wine list with bottles as well as by-the-glass selections.
With a rich color palette, wildwood tables and vaulted ceilings, this handsome venue provides a picturesque backdrop for celebrating life’s special moments. It boasts an open but intimate dining room as well as a 14-person private dining room, ideal for chef’s dinners and feting birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. Stories also features a wall of wine bottles that was inspired by local Bastrop mansions built in the 1800’s by master builder Abner Cook. Also worth mentioning is Kesselus Hall, located in the restaurant’s foyer and named for local author/historian Ken Kesselus. The space is filled with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves housing the works of Texas authors whose words give breath to the regional history behind the Stories’ namesake.
Celebrate special occasions in The Builders Room. Our private dining area, featuring a view into the kitchen, seats up to 14 guests and is the perfect place to host your anniversary, birthday, holiday or business dinner. Custom menus are available.
